As the season opening Scottish Championship (SMRC) car racing event takes place – which will also mark the official start to our 2017 racing season. During an action-packed race day, over 100 competitors from all over Scotland will vie on track for race wins that will hopefully propel them to Championship glory throughout a series of seven SMRC race events to be held at Knockhill in 2017.

The 16-race programme will feature Scottish Formula Ford, Mini Cooper, BMW, Saloons and Sports cars, Legends, Fiesta and the Classic Championship races. Action starts on Sunday morning with qualifying from 8.30am before the serious door-to-door racing action gets underway at approximately 10.35am.

Sunday also marks Knockhill’s 3rd Armed Forces Appreciation Day where any serving or veteran from all three of the Armed Forces will gain free admission to the event with anyone accompanying them gaining admission for the concessionary rate.  Knockhill Events Director, Stuart Gray commented:

“We’re all very eager to get the motorsports season underway and what better way than to start with a bumper Scottish Championship race event and our Armed Forces Appreciation Day. Knockhill always provides great action and with 16 races taking place on the day, the action will be fast and frantic for all to enjoy.

“Our Armed Forces Day is a special one for us, particularly as we were awarded the Bronze Covenant last November for the work we’ve done over the years with the Armed Services. Indeed, our SMRC car race meetings even have ex-personnel within their ranks racing on track, further enhancing the link between Knockhill and the Armed Forces.”

Scottish Championship race days, organised by the Scottish Motor Racing Club, are great value for money with 8 hours of fast and furious action that will keep race fans enthralled from start to finish. An adult ticket costs just £13 if bought in advance (midnight Saturday 2nd April) via the Knockhill website www.knockhill.com or at the gate for £15 on the day.
