Healthcare Roles with HCA UK

Exceptional opportunities in London, Manchester and Birmingham.

In 2023, President and CEO of HCA Healthcare UK, John Reay, and Chief Nursing Executive, Carol Kefford, signed the Armed Forces Covenant, a pledge to support the employment of Veterans, Reservists, Service spouses and partners.

Director of Quality and Risk, Sue Ellis, shares how her career in the Royal Air Force (RAF) led her to HCA UK, saying: “I joined the RAF at 17 years old. I initially worked as a Mechanical Transport Driver, before moving into RAF recruitment training, where I was responsible for the management and basic training of up to 50 new RAF recruits. I’ve undertaken tours in the UK, Germany, Ascension Islands, Falkland Islands, Norway and Turkey before leaving in 2002 to train as a midwife.

I qualified as a midwife in 2005 and I moved to The Portland Hospital as a midwifery sister in 2010 when my husband was posted to RAF Uxbridge in West London. From day one it was clear that career development was a priority. Having undertaken extensive leadership training with the RAF, regular appraisals in my new role saw me move into quality governance. I became Head of Governance at The Portland Hospital within 18 months.

The core values of the Armed Forces include respect, integrity, commitment and excellence; values that align with HCA UK’s. Transferable skills have enabled me to continue a steady career path here, from midwifery sister through now to director of quality and risk.”
