Retail Store Apprentice

You might be surprised to learn that some of the most successful people in retail today started off as Apprentices. It’s all about spotting potential and providing the right people with the right environment to develop a practical, usable skillset. With hard work, ambition and the ability to apply yourself to any challenge, you could make it all the way to Store Management.

Store Apprentices will receive a salary of £183 per week in year one, rising to £273 per week in year three. They can now join the Apprenticeship as a Career Starter, a new route introduced in March 2019, which no longer requires previous qualifications and allows colleagues to develop essential skills in Literacy and Numeracy while completing a Level 2 Retailer Qualification. Alternatively, Apprentices can apply via the Management Development Programme, which does require a minimum grade 4 or equivalent in Maths and English GCSE, and offers candidates a fast track path to becoming a Deputy Store Manager. Apprentices who choose this Programme will complete a Level 2 Retailer Qualification in the first year of training, and then progress onto achieving a Level 3 Retail Team Leader Qualification in years two and three.

Retail Store Assistant

Our Retail Store Assistants are the backbone of our business really. Where would our customers be without their friendly smiles and warm, helpful attitude? You’ll be a bundle of enthusiasm and positivity. Someone who absolutely loves rolling their sleeves up to keep the store running as efficiently as possible. A queue of customers at the till? You’ll jump on a different till and halve their waiting time. A pallet of bananas waiting in the stockroom? You’ll put them out in the store, rather than wait for someone else to do it. You’re thoughtful, flexible and full of initiative.

Hardworking and enthusiastic candidates are being targeted for Aldi’s Store Assistant positions, to carry out responsibilities such as accurate and efficient till operation, stock management and merchandising. Full training will be provided for Store Assistants over a six-week period and roles are available from 15 to 30 hours a week, with salaries starting at £9.10 per hour rising to £10.41 per hour (£10.55 per hour, rising to £10.89 per hour in London), and a realistic prospect of progression. Aldi offer night premium rates, 28 days’ holiday (including bank holidays) and a good pension. Above all, it’s a chance to work with a fantastic team in a truly rewarding role.
