We are responsible for delivering great dining experiences in amazing venues and stadiums as well as feeding thousands of children and students, patients, workers, and Military personnel. We also support patients in hospitals and care homes, as well as ensuring clean buildings and safe environments.

We have been a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant for over 7 years and have just been re-awarded gold status, as a result of our ongoing work supporting those from the Armed Forces community in our business.

We are proud to employ over 1,000 people who are members of the Armed Forces community, at least 700 of whom are Veterans. We recognise that Military personnel bring many transferable skills, which are a great asset to our business.

We have found that Veterans have good decision-making abilities, strong leadership qualities, organisational skills, are reliable, have great time keeping and can respond to briefs effectively.

What type of jobs are available?
There are so many different opportunities at a large organisation like Compass, from frontline entry level roles, through to senior management.

There are many different routes into our business, even if you have no experience, as our roles often require on the job learning. We also offer apprenticeships so that individuals can build up their skills while they identify where they would like to specialise.

Dependent on where you enter the business and where you are in your career, we also provide career pathways in catering, facilities management, finance, hospitality and a broad range of central and operational roles all across the country. Entry-level salaries for Veterans depend on the role and your experience.

Food and support services provides flexible options dependent on what site or sector you work in. For example, if you work on a defence site, you will often work shifts, reflecting the operational requirements of the base. If you work in a workplace site, you would often come in early morning and finish mid-afternoon. The variety of roles means there is usually an option that suits most people.

Benefits include:

  • Dedicated Reservist and Military spouse policies.
  • Reservists at Compass get an additional ten days of annual leave to attend training.
  • Cadet instructors are also supported to attend their annual camps.
  • A day’s leave is provided to Military spouses to support pre or post deployment, and we endeavour to find alternative roles when they are relocated.
  • Military family days are organised for Armed Forces families to visit high profile sports and leisure venues as a special outing.
