HELP FOR HEROES – OVERCOMING ISOLATION

HELP FOR HEROES – OVERCOMING ISOLATION

Off By Ed Hanna

We can help you meet other Veterans, improve your health and fitness, and take back control of your life.

“Christmas can be tough for Veterans. Everyone around you is happy and joyous. For me, it felt like a chore, something I had to fake my way through. As a dad, that felt terrible.”

Greg served in Bosnia, Northern Ireland and the First Gulf War with the British Army. He then spent 25 years in frontline policing, before he was diagnosed with PTSD.

“I sat on the sofa for days on end; drained, fatigued, and scared witless of my memories.”

In 2020, Greg started the Help for Heroes Recovery College courses. These are online and face-to-face courses that help Veterans and their families take back control of their life.

“I can remember the moment my recovery started. I was in my kitchen on my laptop. It was a lightbulb moment when I realised what I needed to do to get my life back on track.”

Please get in touch if you think we can help you, as we’ve helped Greg and thousands of other Veterans and their families.

Greg says: “My message to any Veteran suffering from isolation, is to ask for help. It can seem really tough, but at Help for Heroes, as soon as you do, you’re believed and you’re welcomed in. If I can do it, I know you can too.”

We also want you to know how much gratitude and respect there is out there from the British public. Check our social media and website to read some of the messages of hope and support being written to Veterans this Christmas.
