Remember your hero and change Veterans’ lives forever

At this time of year our thoughts turn to friends and relatives no longer with us. Help for Heroes’ Hero Funds are a simple way to create a lasting tribute to someone special. In just a few minutes you can create and share a fundraising page dedicated to your hero: with every donation benefiting wounded Veterans, Military personnel and their families.

“Kevin would have wanted us to do something positive to remember him.” Help for Heroes volunteers, Sue and Mike, support the charity in memory of their son-in-law.

“Our son-in-law, Colour Sergeant Kevin Fortuna, was a dedicated and talented soldier with 19 years of Service under his belt but on 23 May 2011, Kevin was killed while leading a patrol in Helmand.

You never forget that feeling: opening the door to see two people in uniform standing there. For six months after Kev’s death we were in a state of shock; but doing something for Help for Heroes made sense. We’ve all done our bit and can’t believe people’s generosity. As well as raising money we raise awareness of the charity’s services.

Kev died doing the job he loved but so many of his comrades have to live the rest of their lives with terrible injuries. He would have wanted to help them and that’s what keeps us going.”
