DPD delivers great post-Forces career opportunities

Why work in logistics and at DPD? We recently asked two managers from DPD, Tom, an ex-Army Officer and Charles, an ex-Naval Officer, why they chose logistics as a second career and what makes DPD stand out?

What are the top three things that attracted you to logistics?

  • Using transferable skills – Working with large, diverse teams and delivering results under pressure. Utilising an awareness of technical equipment and fleet and adherence to health & safety and legal compliance.
  • Tangible output – Like the Military, in operations at DPD, the output of your work is visible every day. That means keeping your team safe, exceeding customer demand and meeting budgets.
  • Varied routine – No two days are the same. There is always a new challenge that needs to be considered and overcome.

Why DPD?

  • Values – both DPD and the Military pride themselves on being values-driven organisations, valuing respect, hard work and accountability. DPD has direct equivalents to Military values and standards.
  • People – DPD has a strong culture of hard-working teams, much like the Military. We have a difficult job to do and we look after each other through success and failure. We also wear uniforms!
  • Development – DPD has a clear structure with development opportunities, including to gain further qualifications in areas of specific interest that do not have to be part of your core role. As part of their Time off Work policy, DPD offers an extra five days paid leave (annually) for Reservists to attend summer camps.
