Right at Home – franchised clinical care services

Off By Ed Hanna

The award-winning homecare franchise, Right at Home, is introducing a new range of clinical care services that place it at the vanguard of the Government’s integrated healthcare agenda.

Service-leavers with a medical background are perfectly placed to step into the world of business ownership with this award-winning franchise model that delivers high quality, person-centred care and companionship services, enabling adults to enjoy living independently in their own homes.

From November this year, Right at Home will also start offering home-based services which are typically only available from nurses in hospitals, or via community-based District Nursing teams.

Initially, this will include catheter and stoma care, as well as daily care and support for clients who require a feeding tube, known as PEG feeding. These are among the ‘delegated activities’ that highly trained caregivers can deliver, with healthcare professional-led training and ongoing supervision and monitoring.

Services
As the clinical care programme develops, services will be expanded to include wound dressing and a range of healthcare monitoring and testing services, such as blood pressure checks.

The initiative will reduce delays in hospital discharges and in many cases, remove the need for people to attend hospital, as they will be able to receive more services from their trusted Right at Home caregivers, in the comfort of their own home.

It will also create opportunities for caregivers to develop new skills and forge a range of new career paths within the company, in line with Right at Home’s commitment to advance and professionalise careers in homecare.

Care
Right at Home’s Clinical Care Project aligns with the Department of Health and Social Care’s strategic initiatives and broader integrated health and social care agenda, which increasingly focuses on meeting individuals’ complex clinical needs in community settings.

Right at Home Director of Quality In-home and Clinical Care, Simon Osborne, said: “I feel very privileged to be leading Right at Home UK in a highly innovative clinical care project. I am certain that in working with our excellent Clinical Lead, Lisa Grainger, we can deliver the highest quality delegated activity training and full competency sign off process to our homecare franchise network, giving our clients continuously high levels of care in the home.”

Lisa added: “I am really excited about my appointment to Right at Home as part of the Clinical Care Project Team. Our caregivers are best placed to carry out delegated healthcare activities as they will know the person well and understand what is important to them to deliver consistent person-centred care. Through this project, we will enable our caregivers to deliver delegated health care activities to their clients safely, competently and with confidence.”

Right at Home has more than 80 franchises around the UK, with entry investment from £40,000. To learn more about the model and explore opportunities in your area, contact Head of Network Development, Kate Dilworth, on: 07825 0473544 or email: franchising@rightathome.co.uk
