Military Service Leavers Pathway into Policing

Military Service Leavers Pathway into Policing

Off By Ed Hanna

Nottinghamshire Police are committed to recruiting the most talented people, with a diverse range of skills and experience, who are committed to making a difference to the communities that we serve.

We recognise that the skills gained from a career in the military are both valuable and transferable into the police service. As a result we are providing a pathway for military service leavers in their resettlement period to move into an exciting career with Nottinghamshire Police.

Following the successful completion of the ‘Military Service Leavers Pathway into Policing’ programme, and the assessment processes required for selection as a police officer, individuals from the first cohort will have the opportunity to commence as a Police Constable with Nottinghamshire Police in June 2023.

Applicants will complete a four week pre learning course, followed by a 12 week fast track course* through year 1 of the PCDA (Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship). Year 1 will comprise a reduced training period, before reaching years 2 and 3 of the PCDA course. The PCDA is typically 3 years in duration and a successful and recognised programme for new police officers.

Individuals will be required to successfully complete national and local assessment processes to be able to commence as a police officer and the cost of the course is £2500 however applicants can access Enhanced Learning Credits through ELCAS.

*The changes to year 1 of the course are subject to validation approval due to take place in October 2022 by the University of Derby.

Course start date: January 2023, with online pre learning from November 2022.
