Defence Secretary Dr Liam Fox has welcomed yesterday’s announcement by the NATO Secretary General that the North Atlantic Council is extending NATO’s mission to protect the people of Libya for another 90 days.
Type 42 destroyer HMS Liverpool marks 100 days of patrolling the coast of Libya today, helping enforce the UN Security Council Resolutions designed to protect the country’s civilians from Colonel Gaddafi’s former regime.
A dawn patrol mission over Libya as part of NATO’s commitment to protect the civilian population recently saw an RAF Typhoon pilot rack up his 1,000th flying hour on the aircraft.
