For many service leavers, finding a career that offers purpose, teamwork and opportunities to grow is a top priority. At Stena Line, these qualities are part of everyday life.

At Stena Line, no two careers look the same. From Port Operations and Deck and Engine roles to Technical Services, Onboard Sales & Services and leadership positions, our colleagues have the opportunity to develop new skills, explore different career paths and build rewarding careers both ashore and at sea.

Former Royal Corps of Signals soldier Mike is one of many veterans who have successfully transitioned into a career with Stena Line. Starting as a Port Service Operative, he has built his career through a number of development opportunities, progressing to Port Operative Trainer and Team Leader roles.

“I left the military after six years as a Communication Systems Operator. Leaving the Army was daunting, but as soon as I joined Stena Line, I knew I had made a great choice. A lot of the best parts of military life, like camaraderie and teamwork, were the same here at Stena.”

Mike joined the company as a Port Service Operative, spending four years working as part of the team responsible for loading and discharging vessels before progressing into training and leadership positions.

“It’s rewarding to be part of a company that invests in its people and values the experience that veterans bring to the workplace.”

Mike’s journey reflects Stena Line’s commitment to developing talent from within. Many of our leaders began in frontline roles and have progressed into management positions, while others have moved across departments to develop new skills and experiences.

For those looking to embark on a new career journey, Stena Line offers the opportunity to learn, grow and build a Life Less Ordinary.
