Stagecoach – Proud to commit to Veterans

Veterans Network Co-Lead, Simon Tramalloni, is proud of the actions Stagecoach has taken towards demonstrating their commitments to the Armed Forces community, saying: ‘A lot of people have given their time and support, especially over the last three years in order for us to strive to where we are now!’

In fact, Stagecoach has attended 29 Career Transition Partnership (MOD employment fairs) where 49 drivers, engineers and engineering managers have been recruited in various locations throughout the UK, and they’ve been runners-up in the Ex-Forces in Business Awards for two consecutive years.

Partnerships with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and MOD mean that Stagecoach offers an interview to any Veteran or their families on enquiry and have demonstrated how effective an equitable approach can be, having recruited five people from this scheme alone.

Furthermore, they recruited an interpreter who worked alongside Coalition Forces in Afghanistan and came to the UK as part of Operation Pitting and have supported homeless Veterans into employment, working alongside local authorities.

Commitments
Stagecoach employs over 2,000 Veterans and Reservists and are one of the largest employers of ex-Forces personnel within the UK. As a result, Stagecoach has progressed through the Bronze, Silver and Gold Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) awards.

Elsewhere, stagecoach has also worked with Military charities, visibly raising awareness of the Forces community by providing free travel on Armed Forces Weekend and Remembrance for Serving personnel, Veterans, Cadets and their families, as well as branding a number of buses and coaches with Royal British Legion and Armed Forces Covenant liveries – while also raising over £14,500.
