Army Benevolent Fund

Off By Ed Hanna

The Army Benevolent Fund is one of the largest fundraising organisations in the Military, spending around £9m in benevolence each year.

Last year we supported over 75,000 members of the Army family in 51 countries across the globe. In addition to assisting thousands of individuals in need on a case-by-case basis, we directly funded 86 other charities and organisations to deliver specialist services to assist Soldiers and former Soldiers, or immediate family members.

We are here to support the Army family through all of life’s challenges. Our work covers six key areas:

Helping Army families
Including supporting bereaved Army children and widowed spouses; funding respite holiday breaks, and funding hospital accommodation for the families of wounded Soldiers still Serving

Mental wellbeing
Promoting and enabling better mental and physical wellbeing so that Soldiers, former Soldiers, and their immediate families can lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

Training and education
Supporting those who need help finding rewarding civilian careers.

Independent living
Including home adaptations for injured Veterans; specialist equipment for disabled children in Army families, and grants to charities that support members of the Army family.

Housing
Including giving individual grants for housing needs and funding a range of housing providers that offer accommodation to former Soldiers and their families across the UK.

Care for the elderly
Ensuring that elderly former Soldiers and their families have the care they need.
