Welcome to CTSW Skills LTD where a very friendly staff and ex-service team look forward to meeting and supporting you through your resettlement and post service phases.
Who are we?
CTSW Skills Ltd is a private training organisation located in Plymouth, South West, and offer a wide range of courses including apprenticeships, NVQs, Diplomas, property maintenance and short courses in Bricklaying, Plastering, Carpentry and Joinery, Painting and Decorating and Commis Chef for learners of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
An authorised ELCAS provider, accredited by NOCN providing Level 3 diplomas in any of the construction disciplines we have mentioned on our website for military members undergoing resettlement and wishing to use their ELCAS funding.

We have a range of courses on-site which you can use Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) scheme and Standard Learning Credits (SLC):
- Level 3 Diploma (ELCAS funded) – Advanced knowledge and skill level, very employable, self-employment.
- Level 1 & 2 NVQ – Qualification showing knowledge and skill required for employment level.
- A 15-day property maintenance course for those who wish to upskill or expand their knowledge which could be used for home improvements.
- A 4-day short course for specific construction learning, you choose which sector.
- A new Wednesday Club – a beneficial and productive way to spend your free time that aims to help with that difficult adjustment or restore the camaraderie you were previously accustomed to. It is an afternoon programmed for current and former service members, and there is also a short evening class available for those who need to attend after work hours. You and other people with similar life experiences will be learning in a relaxed environment. (Current serving personnel can use their annual SLC for this).
- Apprenticeships – Help your children get a head start by setting them up to learn a trade. Developing knowledge and skill to help with job opportunities (additional courses available).

Testimony/Case study
After serving 26 years in the Royal Navy, Chief Petty Officer Archie Macneil found himself frustrated during early resettlement. There were no nearby courses available for what he wanted to do until he was introduced to CTSW. Using resettlement (IRTC) to fund a short course, he quickly settled and found his mental frustrations eased somewhat while flourishing in the new surroundings, so much so, he has opted to use his ELCAS funding to stay and start a diploma with us.
Many months down the line now, Archie is really getting to grips with hand skills and techniques in plastering, recognising huge increases in his skill level, he is really enjoying his time with us and what he is now achieving.

I honestly love it here! The course dynamic, training instruction, facilities and staff are all fantastic. This place has a great setup, it’s so stress-free and very rewarding.
This has really helped with the transition elements during my resettlement, building towards me leaving the Armed Forces and everything I have known for the past 26 years.
The added bonus that some members of the staff here are ex-military has that extra comfort that you are not alone and the comradery is there which all service people love!
I cannot recommend this place enough for any course you choose..
