Avon & Somerset Police – unique careers where you will be valued, inspired, and rewarded

We’re here to help people when they need us most and as part of our organisation, you too will play a vital role in our mission to: Serve. Protect. Respect.

Covering an area of 1,855 square miles, we serve and protect nearly 1.7 million people as well as the 6.25 million tourists that are estimated to visit our area each year.

We oversee a hugely diverse range of services and provide support to a wide network, including an international airport, miles of picturesque coastline, a huge network of roads, numerous towns, and rural villages, as well as several large busy cities and two football stadiums. All of this is covered by us 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Empowering
Unique careers are available with us, where you will be valued, inspired, and rewarded. We believe in empowering our diverse officers and staff to make decisions and see individuality as a strength.

Ours is a courageous organisation, committed to learning, with innovation at the heart of what we do. We’re always searching for new ways to help our people perform at their best, whether that’s through the latest tech, pioneering different approaches or training and personal development.

Avon and Somerset Police has pledged support to the Forces family by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. We recognise that those who have Served their country bring with them life experience and a wealth of skills that can enhance our own outstanding workforce and continue to aid us in building trust and confidence within the communities we serve.

Transferable skills
In fact, almost half of our people aren’t police officers and are employed in roles ranging from administrators, call handlers and IT experts to lawyers, accountants and finance assistants. We value transferable skills, such as those acquired in the Armed Forces, so no matter what role you’re in, we have a shared sense of purpose and a will to make a difference.

One new recruit said: “I’ve met some amazing people and already had experiences most jobs can’t give you. First time putting on my uniform made me proud that I had achieved my dream.”
