A police force like no other…
We are not ‘Military police’ nor a Home Office police force, we are the Ministry of Defence Police (MDP).
We have the same full powers and privileges as our Home Office colleagues but we deliver unique specialist armed policing for the Ministry of Defence.
Trained to national policing standards, our officers provide a vital role in deterring threats and protecting critical defence sites and assets, including people.
As a Serving or retired member of the Armed Forces, you’ll have lots of relevant skills, abilities and experiences that are just what we are looking for. A career in the MDP could also be the perfect career transition for you, offering the opportunity for you to continue working in a role that supports UK national security and public safety.
You will also work in familiar settings. At some of the locations where we are based, you might work alongside military colleagues and other Defence staff, we also work with policing and security partners in and around the sites we protect.
Full training
We provide full training, giving you the chance to develop your existing skills as well as learn new ones.
Once you complete your training and probation, you’ll have future opportunities to further specialise in roles such as a marine officer or dog handler.
Why not look and see, where a career in the MDP could take you…
