There’s no time like the present to start a new venture

Did you know the technology industry accounts for over 6.3% of UK jobs? To ensure the UK has the skillset needed, it’s essential that children are taught technology education from a young age – whether it’s coding, robotics, app design or animation.

ComputerXplorers is a leading provider of technology education for children from the ages of three to 13. The network has grown over 300% in the last year, with over 22 family businesses teaching technology education to over 4,500 students, from pre-school through to secondary each week.

One of those businesses is run by Richard and Emily Simcox in Bolton and Wigan. They joined the ComputerXplorers family in 2021, looking to run their own business and gain a better work-life balance. They took the leap and just one year in they have experienced rapid growth, exceeding turnover targets and employing 12 people for summer holiday camps.

Richard commented: “When the time came to make a decision to start my own business, having 20 years’ experience in teaching, I knew this would be a key part. Unfortunately, schools with limited budgets, can’t deliver the lessons and that’s where ComputerXplorers comes in. I’m very much of the opinion you only live once, and there is no time like the present. The leap has paid off and I love it. I wouldn’t ever go back.”
