Help in difficult times…

Help in difficult times…

Off By Ed Hanna

The Naval Children’s Charity has been helping children with Serving or Veteran parents from the Royal Navy for nearly 200 years.

We provide financial support in times of crisis, where families are coping with bereavement, disability or illness as well as those who are struggling financially.  Throughout the pandemic we supported many families, particularly our Veterans, as they struggled with job losses and home educating their children, providing help ranging from groceries and basic needs to laptops and home computers.

Many of us struggle to cope at these difficult times, with the global financial situation and the war in Ukraine affecting us all. Last Christmas we discovered that one of our families, a widow with seven children, had been living without heating or hot water for five years and their oven had just broken. We were able to fix all of that in time for the family to enjoy their first Christmas dinner in a long time. She said: “You have supported myself and my children in so many ways and have helped me in times I couldn’t see any way out. Being able to have heat and hot water after so very long without it, has been life-changing for us as a family”

At this time of Remembrance, we think of all those who continue to defend our nation and the families and children who support them in doing so. By donating to us or leaving us a gift in your will you will be helping them and future generations.
