Our mission is clear: to keep London safe for everyone. Can you be a part of our team, making that mission a reality for Londoners? Underpinning how we do that are our Met values: courage, compassion, integrity and professionalism; values that will resonate with you.

If you want to keep serving with pride, protecting over 9.5 million Londoners, then a career as a Met Police officer in the UK’s largest force, policing over 600 square miles, would be a natural next step for you.

The skills and experience you’ve developed during your Military service; the high standards you hold and Military values that shape who you are, make you an ideal candidate. Come and be part of a team that London relies on.

The Met provides career opportunities no other police force can offer. London – one of the most multicultural cities in the world – is home to royalty, the seat of government and host to thousands of celebratory and protest events every year.  Your future could lie in close protection, firearms, public order policing, becoming a detective, working with communities, supporting victims or solving murders. There are also many opportunities to progress through the ranks, supporting and leading teams and shaping the future of the Met.

In exchange, we’re offering a fully funded degree or graduate diploma (for those already with a degree), where you learn and earn during your initial training on a starting salary of over £35,500. There’s a competitive pension, which you can chose to transfer your Armed Forces Pension Scheme into. Free travel within London and discounted rail travel up to 70 miles from the Capital, 22 days annual leave (plus eight days bank holidays) on appointment, plus an additional 15 days paid leave for Reservist training or duty. In addition to the many gym facilities within our own buildings, we also provide discounted gym membership and a range of wellbeing services including free fast track physio and free health check-ups.

The Met is proud to be signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant and is a Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award holder. There are many Veterans and serving Reservists within our ranks, along with a number of staff associations to support those with a Military background.
