Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH) is proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant. The Covenant is a pledge that those who Serve or who have Served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect.
any members of staff at WUTH have a Forces background. We’ve always found that ex-Forces personnel bring valuable skills and expertise, acquired during their Service, to the hospital setting. The Trust is keen to support their continued career development. Others, such as Reservists, are supported as required, to meet their Forces commitments.
WUTH Medical Director and Deputy Chief Executive, Dr Nikki Stevenson, and Deputy Medical Director and Consultant Intensivist, Dr Ranjeev Mehra signed the Covenant on behalf of the Trust.

The Covenant also recognises the need for UK Armed Forces personnel to be supported throughout their lives in areas including healthcare, career, transitioning to civilian life after Service and in older age.
Dr Stevenson said: “At Wirral University Teaching Hospital, we recognise the value Serving personnel; both Regular and Reservists, Veterans and Military families contribute to our community and our country. By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, we pledge our commitment to supporting Serving and ex-Service personnel.”
Our commitments to Service-leavers and Veterans are not only an expression of respect for the Armed Forces Family, they also help take us closer to our clinical goals.

We also recognise that additional support may also be required for our Armed Forces community and their families, and therefore in addition to the wellbeing support that WUTH currently offers, an amazing new Cheshire and Merseyside information and support hub has been launched and is available for all staff and patients to use.
The Cheshire and Merseyside Armed Forces Community website acts as a notice board for news, events and service information (i.e. health, social), specifically for the Armed Forces community, Veterans and their families – though the site is not endorsed by the MOD, NHS or any other group.
