There’s so much more to SSAFA

There’s so much more to SSAFA

Off By Ed Hanna

We are SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. We have been supporting the Armed Forces family for more than 135 years and not just during times of conflict. We help those currently serving, veterans and their families to retain their independence and dignity. Our services are diverse, and so are the people we help. Whether practical, emotional or financial, we can get them the support they need.

SSAFA offers advice and practical support through our network of volunteers and employees but there’s so much more to SSAFA. Did you know that SSAFA has an adoption service rated Outstanding by Ofsted? Or that we support Forces families with a disability or an additional need by providing them with the chance of valuable quality time together on holiday? Or that our specially trained mentors provide bespoke support for those transitioning out of the Armed Forces?

SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. And we are here for that person – any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us.

Transitional mentoring for service leavers
Our well-established mentoring programme provides long-term, one-to-one support to those who have recently left the Forces, and their families during their transition to civilian life. Our mentoring helps motivate, support, build resilience and empower service leavers – to fulfil their potential in their new lives outside the military.
