City Health Care Partnership – ‘Playing our part.’

City Health Care Partnership vaccinators were joined by Army colleagues at the latest large-scale vaccination centre to be established in the Humber Coast and Vale region. The first vaccinations took place at Hull City Hall on 10 February 2021.

The facility, located in Hull city centre, is managed by City Health Care Partnership CIC (CHCP) and has been provided to the vaccination effort by Hull City Council. A team of 30 vaccinators will provide up to 1,000 vaccinations per day to the most vulnerable groups of people in our society, as identified by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). Over 65s, shielded patients and those working in care homes and health and social care workers within a 45-minute drive of the City Hall are among those receiving their vaccinations.

CHCP Chief Executive, Andrew Burnell, said: “We are very proud to be playing our part in the National effort to protect people from this virus. I’d like to thank everyone involved in setting up the vaccination centre in Hull; it shows the power of partnership and co-operation in the fight against Covid-19 and I hope this spirit can continue once things start to improve.”

A huge number of volunteers and staff from other local organisations have been involved in supporting the vaccinations but there’s still room for more. An essential role has been that of our volunteer marshals, who have given up their time to make patients feel safe and supported from the moment they come to the door, to the moment they leave the building after their vaccination, all while maintaining social distancing.

One of our volunteers explains: “When my granddaughter is older and asks what I did during the pandemic I want to tell her I helped out at the vaccination centre to get us back to the new normal!”

At the time of writing, the Government has announced that over 15 million doses of vaccine have been administered to the population since 8 December 2020. In our region alone nearly half a million doses of vaccine have been delivered.
