In the Footsteps of Heroes…

Next year marks the 75th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy, known as Operation Overload and a pivotal moment of the Second World War.

The Royal British Legion have designed a unique four day Normandy Beaches Trek along the coastline. It’s a poignant time to visit the area and participants will be fully immersed in the history of the sites and scenery of the D-Day Landings on the Normandy beaches.

The route follows the exquisite coastline of Omaha, Juno and Sword beaches and involves full days of trekking over a varied terrain of dunes, grass or tarmac. The grand finish will take place at the strategic Pegasus Bridge and the village of Ranville.

The Normandy Beaches Trek will be both a moving and meaningful way to raise funds for our Armed Forces community and we invite you to be part of this memorable expedition.

Day 1: Transport from London to Normandy; check in to hotel and trip briefing.

Day 2: 12 miles – Starting at Grandcamp-Maisy we’ll follow the coastline of Omaha Beach and walk along the top of the sand dunes, passing through the Pointe du Hoc, Normandy American Cemetery and finishing at the Juno Beach Centre.

Day 3: 12 miles – We’ll start the day at the Fifth Engineer Special Brigade memorial heading towards the iconic Port-en-Bessin and finishing at Longues-sur-Mer battery.

Day 4: 12 miles – Setting off from Mulberry Harbour our trek will take us to Arromanches and then to the Juno Beach official memorial.

Day 5: 12.5 miles – Our day will start from the Canadian memorial of Juno beach. We’ll walk the length of Sword Beach to Ouistreham and then down the canal to our grand finish at Pegasus Bridge and the Ranville War Cemetery.

Day 6: Transport back to London.
