The Invictus Games are currently taking place from 20-27 October 2018 in Sydney, heading down under this year. With Sydney hosting the fourth Invictus Games, the athletes have been preparing.

451 hopefuls this year applied to be a part of Team UK for the 2018 Invictus Games. That’s more than ever before.

333 (74%) have never competed in the Invictus Games before. Just 203 (45%) have never even applied to join the team before.

The Team UK Trials were held in April where hopefuls trialled in 10 different sports:

  • Athletics
  • Archery
  • Wheelchair Basketball
  • Road Cycling
  • Powerlifting
  • Indoor Rowing
  • Wheelchair Rugby
  • Swimming
  • Sitting Volleyball
  • Wheelchair Tennis

In March, Sailing was trialled by hopefuls as a new sport for the 2018 games.

At the Invictus Games Sydney 2018, 500 competitors from across 18 nations are competing in 10 different adaptive sports.

The selection process for Team UK is based on the individual benefit of the Invictus Games, for each applicant, and how it helps with their recovery. Their performance and commitment to training also help them to stand out.
