Able Amputees March The Mile

Able Amputees March The Mile

Off By Sharon Black

On Wednesday August 10th Nils Bergstrand, the amputee writer and performer of The One Legged Man Show, will unite with fellow amputees and they will all walk, wheel or hop up The Royal Mile in Edinburgh during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

In partnership with the Glasgow based charity Finding Your Feet and sponsored by Morrisons Granton, starting at the Palace of Holyroodhouse at 10:30 all participants will proudly parade their prosthetics and wheelchair skills up the mile, to show that amputees are strong, visible and able! The One Legged Mile will culminate with a photo shoot and refreshments at 12:00 at Edinburgh Castle to celebrate everyone’s journey.

The ground-breaking The One Legged Man Show is an inspirational and moving cabaret, which is a touching and entertaining musical meander through the writer’s own experience of losing a limb at the age of 30. The show, which plays for the entirety of the festival at Spotlites, George Street, puts a spotlight on the challenges and the strength of being an amputee, which is going to be expressed in this promotional mile – because nobody puts an amputee in the corner.

We would love you to come along to witness what we hope will be an uplifting and inspiring moment in this years Edinburgh Festival Fringe – defying the norm once again!
