Cadets Head to India for Summer Camp With a Difference

Off By Ed Hanna

As part of celebrations of the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, a group of eight UK Army Cadets and two RAF Air Cadets flew out to New Delhi on Monday 8 August to join India’s National Cadet Corps (NCC) to attend their India Youth Exchange Programme (YEP).

The NCC is the Indian Military Cadet Corps with their headquarters in New Delhi. NCC is a tri-services organisation, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in nurturing the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens.

India officially celebrated 75 years of independence on 15 August. To mark the occasion, Indian people pay respects to all the leaders who fought bravely for their nation’s freedom in the past. British Cadets, along with 13 Cadet Forces from around the world joined the celebrations at the Red Fort in Old Delhi. Want to be one of our amazing volunteers?
Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the organisation. Without them, we would not be able to provide young people with  fun and adventurous experiences like the India Exchange. We are always looking for new volunteers. You don’t need Military experience to be a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer (CFAV), you just need to have a passion for making a difference to young people’s lives.

There are so many benefits to joining as a volunteer. Not only will you be able to try out fun activities and meet new people, you’ll also get to develop your own skills, many of which are transferrable to your life outside of the Army Cadets.
