The Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion (enei) has today released a guide for employers to help tackle the chronic underemployment of military spouses.

The guide, which was produced with the support of the social enterprise Recruit for Spouses, is the UK’s first dedicated resource designed specifically for employers. It challenges the myths, explains the business case and the actions employers can take to support military spouses at work.

The Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion (enei) is proud to be able to support Armed Forces Day 2014. Military spouses are often a forgotten component of our Armed Forces, whose support for their partners is invaluable in maintaining the safety and security of us all.

Denise Keating, chief executive of enei comments:

‘There are many unforgotten heroes in the shape of spouses and partners who provide vital support to those we rely on to provide income and security.  This guide encourages employers to consider military spouses as an untapped resource who are not only willing but able to provide a valuable contribution to our economy.’

Heledd Kendrick, founder and CEO of Recruit for Spouses comments:

‘For years military spouses have been pushed out of the employment space because many employers don’t really think about the difficulties so many of us face, but, military spouses make excellent employees, they are adaptable, resourceful and have a real can do attitude they are, an asset to any employer and we’re delighted to be working with enei on this guide.’
