Website SCAS999 South Central Ambulance Service

Whatever your life and career aspirations are, there are opportunities for you.

Are you a qualified paramedic or emergency care assistant looking for a new challenge? Matt was in the same boat this time last year, came along to one of our Recruitment Open Days and is now enjoying his new role at SCAS. Why not do what Matt did and come along and meet some of our frontline 999 team this Saturday between 10am and 2pm at our offices in Otterbourne, Hampshire, to see if you'd like your next role to be at SCAS too.

At SCAS they have career opportunities to suit you and your skills, ranging from roles in emergency and urgent care, to non-emergency patient caring roles and our clinical coordination centres.

Whatever your life and career aspirations are, there are opportunities for you.

At South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) they pride ourselves on the levels of engagement we have with members of the Armed Forces, and the increasing number of Veterans and Reservists among our staff.

They proudly signed the Covenant in 2014, continuing their journey in 2017 when they received the Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award which demonstrates their support for the Military.

In May 2018 they were very excited to be invited to RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire. The overall purpose of the visit was to begin working on their campaign materials that will be used throughout Armed Forces Week in June 2018. The event was a great success and was attended by a number of people who work for SCAS but also have/ had links with the Armed Forces including: Veterans, Reservists, Co-Responders, Cadet Leaders, MOD Paramedics and our very own Military Champions.

The day was a great opportunity to sit, talk and listen to people who have a connection with the Forces, hearing people’s Military experiences and passion for their time in Service was really enlightening and they gathered some great case studies for future use.

They were delighted to be joined by Trust Chair, Lena Samuels and a number of our executive directors for the day. They spent time talking with all attendees and in front of the camera to further demonstrate our commitment to NHS Employers Step into Health and See Potential – having originally signed both pledges in 2017.

The NHS Step into Health programme connects Trusts like theirs directly to people within the Armed Forces community who are looking to embark upon a new career path when leaving the Forces.

This exciting programme has already made an impact on the whole of the NHS. The initiative has supported the development of their understanding of the many transferable skills and cultural values, which the Armed Forces personnel have to offer modern, innovative, 24-7 healthcare organisations such as your own.

The See Potential campaign is designed to support people back into work. At SCAS they actively encourage applications frolong-termrm unemployed, care leavers, single parents and Veterans. They strive to see beyond people’s difficult or challenging lives and can unlock the potential to become a valuable member of their inclusive workforce.

The recruitment of Armed Forces personnel into the South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS) has been very successful.

They have now designed a number of events specifically for the Armed Forces community. Their SCAS Insight Days have always proven to be hugely popular and this year they’ll be joining Berkshire Fire Service and Thames Valley Police Force to hold the very first Emergency Services Insight Day in September
– for further information on this please visit the Career Transition Partnership CTP website.

We are very proud to be able to continue our commitment to support any Service-leavers and the wider Armed Forces community.

We are really looking forward to the future and hope to be able to expand our working relationship with the Armed Forces.
