Serco Ex-Forces Career Opportunities

  • UK

Serco is one of the world’s largest providers of public services to governments, employing over 50,000 people in over 20 countries. The services they provide are often of critical importance to the communities and nations they serve.

Serco operates in six sectors of public service provision: Health, Transport, Justice, Immigration, Defence, and Citizens Services. Sometimes they are supporting people at troubled times in their lives, be they unemployed, refugees fleeing persecution, or in prison. In other parts of their business, they are running some of the most advanced train services in the world, delivering essential support to Armed Forces, keeping hospitals safe and operational around-the-clock, and providing environmental services.

They are looking for people to join Serco who share their desire to make a positive difference, the confidence to work as part of a team, the insight to spot the opportunity to do things better, and, importantly, the ability to take the initiative and put great ideas into practice wherever they are needed.

For over 50 years Serco has worked alongside the UK Armed Forces providing critical defence support services. This has given them a unique appreciation of the contribution and sacrifice that people working for the Armed Forces make, and continue to make once they have left the service to their business and in the wider community.

It is for these reasons that Serco is absolutely committed to being an Armed Forces Friendly company and is proud that they not only employ a significant number of ex-service personnel right across their business, but they also offer real support to employees who have volunteered to serve in the Reserve Forces. Serco was also one of the first companies back in October 2013 to sign the Armed Forces Covenant.

The company is committed to actively recruiting veterans and providing greater flexibility to staff who are Reservists by further supporting their training and deployment. They have also pledged to support service dependants and local cadet organisations at the many military bases at which they operate. Serco received a Gold Award in recognition of its support of the Armed Forces Covenant in January 2016.
