The Soldiers’ Charity awards more than £45,000 to King Edward VII Hospital

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity has recently awarded King Edward VII Hospital in London a grant just shy of £50,000 towards their Pain Management Programme.

The veterans’ Pain Management Programme (PMP) was developed as a partnership between King Edward VII’s Hospital’s Pain and Neuroscience Centre of Excellence and the veterans’ charity, Supporting Wounded Veterans.

RNRMC continue to support Scotland’s naval veteran community

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) has confirmed that it will award military care home provider, Erskine Homes, a grant of £40,000 to ensure the continued care and support of naval veterans.

As an established provider of care, Erskine looks after around 800 elderly and disabled ex-Service men and women, their spouses and widows/widowers each year. They offer long term residential and respite nursing, dementia and palliative care to its occupants.

If you think you or your partner/spouse may be experiencing mental health difficulties, you can get expert help from the NHS Veterans’ Mental Health Transition, Intervention and Liaison Service (TILS). This is a dedicated out patient service for Veterans who have Served in the British Armed Forces and for those transitioning out of the British Armed Forces with a discharge date.

NHS Veterans’ Trauma Network – dedicated care and treatment for those injured during Service

The NHS has a range of dedicated services for Veterans. This includes the Veterans’ Trauma Network, which provides care and treatment to those who have been injured during their time in Service.

The service is available in health centres across England with Veterans receiving care from Military and civilian clinicians who are experts in treating trauma injuries. As part of this, the Veterans’ Trauma Network works closely with Defence Medical Services, national centres of clinical expertise, the NHS Veterans’ Mental Health Transition, Intervention and Liaison Service and key Military charities to makes sure patients have a personalised care plan in place. As families and carers can be seriously impacted when their loved ones are injured, they are also supported to access services that may help them.

Explorer Levison Wood delivers inspiring speech to military veterans at Combat Stress centre

Bestselling author, explorer and photographer Levison Wood, visited the UK’s leading charity for veterans mental health on Wednesday to talk to former servicemen and women about his career as an officer in the Parachute Regiment and his transition to becoming an explorer.

While at Audley Court, the Combat Stress centre in Newport, Shropshire, Levison was taken on a tour to see how the charity supports veterans with mental health conditions. The services provided at the centre include occupational therapy workshops, which help veterans improve their physical health and well-being, relationships, behaviour, beliefs, emotions and thinking. This enables veterans to become more resilient and cope better with their condition.
