Advocates support clients to express their views, wishes and feelings, assisting them in safeguarding their rights and ensuring that those who are particularly vulnerable and/or excluded have an opportunity to take forward issues which are of importance to them.

seAp are looking to recruit an Advocate in Bromley to work within the Borough, to deliver NHS Complaints and Community Mental Health Advocacy. The Advocate, as part of the Kent & Bromley team, will liaise with and work alongside our partners in providing advocacy to support vulnerable adults to have a voice and a say in the services they receive.

A working knowledge and understanding of Advocacy Services across a range of areas is required, and a sound understanding of discrimination and inclusion issues. We also need you to be able to demonstrate good listening and negotiation skills and be used to liaising with key stakeholders without compromising the independence of the advocacy role.

Prior achievement of QIA modules is desirable; however training will be available if required to ensure that these modules can be undertaken and achieved within the required 12 month period. Supervision and support will be provided.

This role is home based so you will need access to a stable home broadband service but involves regular travel within the Bromley area and regular meetings in Kent, sometimes at unsocial hours, so access to own transport is essential.

Please note that travel expenses will only be payable from within the London Borough of Bromley.

This position is subject to enhanced DBS and Eligibility to Work checks.
