Leaving the Armed Forces is a stressful time for anyone and transitioning back into ‘Civvy Street’ can be a challenge. You get given your Enhanced Learning Credits, but what should you do with them? Keytek Locksmith Academy is offering a chance to start a new career as a locksmith, working for yourself and choosing your working hours.


If you are a service leaver than you are more than likely entitled to receive ELC (Enhanced Learning Credits). The Armed Forces provide you with money to further your education and advance your career (in many different fields) once you leave.

All ELC approved courses at Keytek® are Level 4, which is the highest level of qualification within the locksmith industry. Our ELC provider number is 4682, and you can use your ELC funding on both our 5 day and 8-day level 4 locksmith courses.

What We Do

By using your ELC to fund your locksmith training course you can start your new career quickly. By doing one of our Level 4 Keytek® qualification approved by the NCFE, you will gain the skills and expertise to become a successful mobile locksmith. With our Technical Support Team available 24/7 you are never unsupported, even on the toughest of jobs. Our experts are only a phone call away, meaning they can guide you through a tricky procedure, or give advice on which part to use. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been a locksmith for 2 months or 20 years, we will always be there to offer support and guidance.

At Keytek® we are also the UK’s largest National Locksmith company, meaning that after successful competition of a course with us, we give you the opportunity to sub-contract with us should you wish. We have a team in the office who takes the initial customer calls for you; meaning you don’t have to worry about answering the phone whilst driving. Our team will get in touch with you to inform you of any job that comes up in your area. You can set your own working hours, so if you tell us you are having a long weekend and can’t work a Friday, we won’t bother you with calls.

Our Courses

Level 4 – 5 and 8 Day Courses

Our Five and Eight Day Courses will provide you with a detailed understanding and practical application of locksmithing techniques. After you have completed your chosen course you will be awarded a Level 4 qualification, the highest level within the locksmith training industry. Our Level 4 Five and Eight Day Courses are approved by NCFE and have been developed to meet the specific needs of our learners.

One on one sessions mean you can develop your techniques and become confident in your skills. During the practical sessions you will be faced with several common scenarios, which our locksmiths face daily, these will include;

Various scenarios to gain entry to uPVC and wooden doors following a lock out, using a wide variety of techniques

  • Following a break in, offering relevant security advise to the customer
  • Upgrading home security, including doors and windows
  • Removing snapped keys from a variety of locks
  • Identifying faults on uPVC mechanisms and ordering replacement parts
  • Gaining entry to a vehicle, when keys have been lost or locked inside

The difference between the five and eight-day courses is that on the eight-day course, you get the huge benefit of 3 days onsite training with one of our qualified locksmiths. This gives you invaluable insight into what you can expect to be doing when you are on the road, allow you to interact with customer and put your new skills to the test.
