It is with great sadness that the Ministry of Defence must confirm that Captain Walter Reid Barrie from The Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (1 SCOTS) was shot and killed in an ‘insider attack’ at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Shawqat in the Nad-e Ali district of Helmand Province on Sunday 11 November 2012.
On Monday, 28 November, soldiers of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (SCOTS DG) proudly marched through Glasgow to mark their return from a tough but successful tour of duty in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
It is with sadness that the Ministry of Defence must confirm the death of Rifleman Sheldon Steel, from 5th Battalion The Rifles (5 RIFLES), who was killed in Helmand province, southern Afghanistan, on 27 November 2011.
