It is with great sadness that the Ministry of Defence must confirm that Guardsman Karl Whittle of The Queen’s Company, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards died in Queen Elizabeth Hospital on 7 September 2012 having sustained gunshot wounds when his checkpoint was attacked by insurgents in the Nahr-e Saraj District of Helmand Province on 14 August 2012.

An injured elderly walker was last week rescued in the Lake District by the RAF Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopter crew from A Flight, 202 Squadron, based at RAF Boulmer.

It is with sadness that the Ministry of Defence must announce that a Royal Marine from 42 Commando Royal Marines was killed today, Friday 5 August 2011, in the Nad-e Ali (North) District of Helmand Province.

It is with great sadness that the Ministry of Defence must announce the death of a soldier from the 3rd Battalion The Mercian Regiment (Staffords), who was killed on Saturday 18 June 2011. The soldier was shot while on patrol in the Nahr-e Saraj (North) District of Helmand Province and died of his injuries.
