It’s well known that the Armed Forces provide you with the opportunity to learn a wide range of invaluable skills and expertise as part of an elite group, and many of these skills are absolutely crucial within the civilian world.
Like the Armed Forces, commitment, discipline, integrity, loyalty and respect are all highly valued at Eddie Stobart. Much of their success comes from their ability to work as one large, high performance team, just like in the British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force or Royal Marines. They actively encourage applications from service leavers, so if you’re looking for the next step in your career, contact them today to find out more.
DCPC training is carried out in-house at their unique training academy.
Under the government’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, Eddie Stobart has been re-awarded the silver award for supporting the reserve forces. They formally made a commitment in July 2013 to champion the value of publicly recognising employer support for reservists.
Areas they recruit into:
Commercial & Business Development
Their Commercial & Business Development team plays a key role in supporting the rest of the business to develop opportunities for new and existing customers. They manage the pipeline of future prospects as well as leading all of our tendering and direct sales work. You’ll work as part of a dynamic team to deliver results which really make the difference to their Operations.
Like any other business, Finance plays an integral role in managing the numbers. The team closely manage customer accounts and help the senior leaders make strategic business decisions. You’ll expect to work closely with managers across the business advising them on financial planning and forecasting.
As you’d expect with a fleet as large as theirs, it takes a lot of organisation. Ensuring vehicles comply with DVSA guidelines is vital and so they carry out stringent testing and maintenance reviews of every vehicle in the fleet. They also organise the commissioning and de-commissioning of vehicles as and when the fleet size changes due to seasonal variations. You’d be working as part of a 24/7 support team with the highest profile in the business.
Human Resources (HR) and Training
Their business is all about people and their HR and Training teams make sure they have the right people in the right place with the right skills. They steer how they organise themselves to meet the diverse needs of their customers and ensure they remain a place people want to come and work. You’ll be in the centre of the business advising managers and team leaders on all aspects of people leadership and helping their employees to fulfil their potential at work.
IT systems and processes
To ensure they continue to be an industry leader they continually invest in innovative technology and partner with some of the world’s leading tech organisations, including IBM. During the course of their day to day operations they create and capture huge volumes of data which helps them manage their 24/7 operation. You’ll be central to the ongoing development and advancement.
Their operations are diverse – trucks and trailers are only a small part of what they do day to day. As an end to end logistics provider, they are involved at every stage of the supply chain, working across sectors as varied as Construction and E-Commerce. Whether it’s leading a team of warehouse operatives or planning the best route to ensure they meet all of their customer expectations and performance indicators, you will enjoy a varied set of activities.
