FCO Services: Technical Security Countermeasures Officers

£27,270 – £30,000 plus £1,000 location allowance plus benefits
Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes with overseas travel

The increasing sophistication of physical, electronic and cyber-attacks can put even the most protected security operations under threat. But as one of the highly trained professionals of UK NACE, you will help ensure vital assets and information stay protected, as you help central government customers including the Foreign & Commonwealth Office manage the risk of hostile attack.

Protect key buildings around the world

In this highly specialised role, you will be responsible for inspecting government buildings around the world, ensuring they are compliant with current regulations and that their security systems have not been compromised. You will then be expected to summarise your findings in detailed written inspection reports. Another key area of focus will be on new build projects, where you will provide expert advice on the technical security aspects of construction. You will also lead cutting-edge R&D projects and will get involved in some cyber endpoint forensic investigation work.

Apply your skills to national security issues

We are looking for someone who is skilled at solving complex problems and who has a City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent qualification in electronics, telecoms or a related subject. You must be willing and able to travel, across the UK or overseas. It is also really important that you can work in a team and make a significant contribution no matter how difficult the conditions you have to work in.

And enjoy a varied and rewarding career

The UK National Authority for Counter Eavesdropping (UK NACE) has been protecting the nation against technical espionage and attacks for 65 years. Currently managed by FCO Services, we provide the highest standards of security protection through a combination of education, inspections and investigations, and by providing customers with expert recommendations and advice. Join us, and you will be able to make a significant contribution to national security while at the same time pursuing a highly rewarding career. The work is fascinating. No two days are the same. And the role could potentially take you anywhere from the north of Scotland to Singapore.

All our employees have to be security cleared to the highest level, so you will need to undergo a comprehensive vetting process before joining. Holding current DV clearance would be extremely advantageous but is not essential.
