Armed Forces Veterans Sports Scheme Launched by Hartlepool United Community Sports Foundation

Hartlepool United Community Sports Foundation are running an activity and personal development programme for ex-services personnel as part of their ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces.

Funded by The Royal British Legion and supported by the Hartlepool Borough Council, HUCSF will use sports activities and social events to help address the issues faced by veterans once they have left military service.

Inactivity, social isolation, loneliness and low confidence levels are among the many long-term challenges that veterans encounter upon leaving the Forces and the project aims to use group sessions, based around the football club, to support these men and women of all ages in overcoming them.

The sessions are free to attend for veterans and their families and can lead to additional opportunities for participants including access to sports courses, volunteering and work experience within the Club.

Starting on 9th April, and running every Monday, HUCSF will be holding initial drop-in sessions at Victoria Park between 2-4pm for anyone looking to find out more about the project.
