Forces Discount makes dream home affordable for the Tuites

Serving in the Armed Forces comes with a unique set of challenges. The work is demanding, and long periods of time are spent away from home. These pressures can make something like buying a house that bit more daunting.

For Oliver and Melissa Tuite though, with the help of Bovis Homes’ new All Inclusive Armed Forces Discount, that process has been made that bit simpler and more affordable too.

Oliver serves as a Staff Sergeant in the 1 Signal Regiment based at MOD Stafford, while wife Melissa is a dental nurse in nearby Stoke. They had been looking for a new home in Stafford for around a year.

Oliver explains: “We’ve been looking to move for a while but due to the nature of my job, things like applying for a mortgage and viewing potential new homes are a challenge – there’s certain things we can only do together, but I am often away with work or unable to take time off.

“Having been posted overseas within the last three years as well, we found it difficult to get the same good mortgage rates offered to others outside the Forces.”

When Oliver and Melissa visited Bovis Homes’ St George’s Park location in Stafford, they were introduced to the company’s new discount scheme for the Armed Forces. The All Inclusive Armed Forces Discount scheme provides a cash discount on the price of a Bovis home to serving members of the Armed Forces, as well as a package of extras (carpets, curtains, and integrated appliances) and help towards legal fees.

Together these incentives help to reduce the hidden hassle of buying a home. There’s no need to measure for curtains, or transporting heavy kitchen appliances on moving day, for example.

When combined with the Forces Help to Buy and Government Help to Buy equity schemes, it forms what Bovis Homes calls ‘Trinity’. The most comprehensive purchase assistance scheme available to service-personnel, giving access to a lower deposit and better mortgage rates.

“When we visited the sales office at St George’s Park, we were taken through the whole discount scheme and how it could work for us by the lovely sales advisor Jenny Hayes,” said Melissa. “It was simply explained and easy to understand. We knew then that the full ‘Trinity’ package was the perfect option for us – we wouldn’t have been able to afford our new home without it.”

St George’s Park is the perfect location for the Tuites, close to the centre of Stafford with great transport links. And after realising that the Trinity scheme would be perfect for them, they reserved a three-bedroom Stretton townhouse for them and their two children, Kevin, 17 and ten-year old Amy.

Having lived in a new build home provided by the military, the family knew the advantages all too well.

“We like the thought of having an influence on what kitchen, tiles and floors will be put in. Plus the thought of being the first people living in the house – after living in military quarters for over 10 years – is really appealing – it’s truly ours.”

The Tuites will move into their new home in the spring and are excited to start their time in their forever home.

Melissa said: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to Bovis Homes for making our future in a beautiful new home possible. I’d strongly recommend the All Inclusive Discount and Trinitys scheme to anyone in the Forces who is looking to buy a new home.  It is nice to see that there are companies out there caring for service personnel and their families.”
